Dear Friend,

You and I understand the power of grassroots activism.

As we know, each and every group supported by the Muste Institute makes a profound impact on the struggle for peace and justice. This year the Institute is doubling its grant ceiling, expanding our international work, and increasing our efforts to engage new and emerging social justice organizations.

With your support we are poised to make the most of this moment. With new grants to the Black Movement Law Project, Laundry Workers Center, Organize! Ohio, to Women Make Movies, we are mobilizing.

It’s not easy to look around and see the proliferation of political challenges we face. However, this is hardly the first time in our history, and it won’t be the last, that we fight the seemingly insurmountable—to demand the

impossible. It’s what we do. With every grant the Institute makes, we take a leap of faith into the future. Sometimes it’s necessary to leap a little farther, and this is certainly one of those times.

It was bittersweet but also energizing to make the recent move out of our historic offices on Lafayette Street and into our new space. Without the time and costs of caring for an ailing building we have more funds available for grantmaking, and the new offices will allow us to explore the benefits of our sheltering program in a truly

collaborative work space.

I’ve enclosed a brochure produced to celebrate our history and inspire us as we head into the future, together.

Whether you have donated to the Muste Institute recently or your involvement has lapsed, please consider making a generous contribution now.

For every grant request we approve there is another, equally worthy, that we have had to turn down. We want to fix that. Won’t you join us in strengthening the next

phase of our long history of making peace and social justice dreams a reality?

For peace and justice,

Heidi Boghosian
Executive Director
