Dear Friends,

Please join us in donating to the Muste Institute as we prepare to move together to a new, accessible space where all of our members and volunteers can feel welcome. (Click here to give online now.)

The Muste Institute has decided to sell its badly-deteriorated building and buy a wheelchair-accessible space near public transportation in Manhattan that can comfortably house its own programs as well as those of Met Council on Housing, War Resisters League, Paper Tiger TV, Deep Dish TV, Socialist Party USA, Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF)-NY Metro and Health Care Now.

While we will all be sad to say goodbye to this historic building, we are looking forward to being able to refocus our energies on our organizing and educational work: opposing war and injustice; defending tenant rights and fighting greedy slumlords; working to guarantee health care for everyone; and creating a voice for progressive viewpoints through independent media.

We are counting on your support. Over the next six months the Muste Institute will seek to sell the building, move us all to a new space, and get back to the task of expanding and strengthening its grantmaking, fiscal sponsorship and literature programs.

Your support at this critical moment will literally lay the groundwork for the grassroots peace and justice movement, guaranteeing the future of our work for a better world.

There are three main ways you can help:

Ongoing support: Your contributions toward general support of the Muste Institute's work promoting nonviolent action for social justice allow your gift to be directed where it is needed most.

Direct capital gifts: your contribution of any size--even $10 or $20--to the Muste Institute's capital campaign makes a real difference in building the endowment that will cover our maintenance costs in the new space. If you want to make a greater impact, consider a larger gift.

Directed program support: You may specify a particular program you would like to sustain, such as the Social Justice Fund, another of the Muste Institute's grant funds, or a sponsored organization.

We encourage you to make a larger contribution than usual; you may also divide your donation among several giving options. We are grateful for your contribution of any size.

Thank you for joining us in our commitment to the Muste Institute and its partner organizations as we build a new and vibrant home that will serve the social justice movement--locally, nationally and internationally--for the foreseeable future.

Sincerely,

Met Council on Housing                       Healthcare-NOW!
