Dear Friends,

It’s really happening!

The Peace Pentagon, our dynamic hub of nonviolent resistance, is getting ready to move. The aging building that has sheltered us for so long has been sold, and our relocation is scheduled for April 2016.

We’re looking forward to expanding our collaboration with other social justice activists in a new home that is convenient to transportation, fully accessible to people with disabilities, and a warm and welcoming environment for public meetings and events.

With your support, our new location will strengthen our capacity to build on recent social justice organizing victories like these:

  • New York City’s first ever rent freeze for one million rent-stabilized households, won in June of this year by Met Council on Housing in coalition with other housing groups across the city.

  • The opening up of scholarships to undocumented students at New York University, thanks to the New York State Youth Leadership Council’s work developing powerful activist “Dream Teams” at college campuses.

  • Emergence of a large international network supporting Iraqi grassroots organizing, through the efforts of War Resisters League (WRL) organizer Ali Issa and his book, Against All Odds: Voices of Popular Struggle In Iraq.

The Muste Institute already contributes to these projects and our other organizing work through annual sheltering grants, and by providing us with an affordable place to work and meet. Together in an energized shared space, with your support, we can do even more.

Will you help with this transition?

Your generous gift to the Muste Institute will go toward ensuring that the new space:

  • serves the needs of our diverse movements (think: high-tech communications, accessible conference rooms);

  • enhances our collective impact (think: shared resources, collaborative outreach);

  • “walks the walk” of our values (think: energy-efficient lighting, fully accessible bathrooms);

  • honors our history, and inspires our future (think: murals, posters, wall art);

  • expands our visibility (think: public screenings, broad-based gatherings).

We are grassroots groups operating on modest budgets, so your contributions make a real difference.

Thank you for joining us, and the Muste Institute, in this new adventure!

Sincerely,
